Information Security Officer
The Information Security Officer is head of the Information Security Unit and reports directly to the Minister. The Information Security Officer supports the Minister in the organization and control of classified information protection activities within the Ministry.
Ensures compliance with the requirements of the Classified Information Protection Act and other statutory instruments regulating protection of classified information. Ensures classification of information at the appropriate level at the Ministry.
Administers the ordinary background investigation procedure under Article 47 of the Classified Information Protection Act, and keep a register of the persons so investigated.
Elaborates a plan for physical and technical protection of classified information and ensures the implementation of the said plan.
Conducts periodic checks of the records and flow of materials and documents containing classified information, as well as keeps record of the cases of unauthorized access and the measures taken.
Is in charge of the periodic assessments of the risks for information security and the observance of policies and procedures approved.
The Information Security Officer is in contact at management and expert levels with the State Commission on Information Security, the State Agency for National Security, the Ministry of Interior and the Ministry of Defence in respect of issues related to the Classified Information Protection Act implementation.
