Minister of Finance Vladislav Goranov and Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications Rossen Jeliazkov jointly validated a postage stamp and a carnet custom made for the Ministry of Finance on the occasion of the 140th anniversary of the institution.

“I would like to thank Minister Jeliazkov and Bulgarian Posts for having responded to our request to mark the anniversary of the Bulgarian statehood following the Liberation as well as of our institution. I believe that this postage stamp will remain as a relic not only for the Ministry, but also for all philatelists and fans of the philatelic art”, Minister Goranov said.

In turn, Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications Rossen Jeliazkov stressed that the Ministry of Finance had always been the pillar of the Bulgarian statehood. He also highlighted one interesting fact: “This year marks the 140th anniversary of many institutions with postage stamps, but there is no other institution which is so closely linked to postage stamp issuance because control over this activity had been exercised by the Ministry for many years. Yet, the Ministry of Finance is the only institution for which no postage stamp has ever been issued to date”.

Minister Jeliazkov added that the postage stamp was also unique because of its artistic value. “The author Emil Hristov has depicted a fragment of one of the most beautiful stained glasses in the building of the Ministry of Finance. The stained glass is an example of the interior decoration from the 1930s. The subject symbolises upsurge, wealth and prosperity.”

The circulation of the postage stamp is 3000 pieces.
