Journalist: What do you think about the “German-French Eurozone”?

Vladislav Goranov: First of all, I would like to thank my colleagues for the tremendous work done for the last six months under the Bulgarian Presidency. Talking about today’s agenda, I would like to mention that we have three dossiers related to the VAT and talking about the Franco-German agenda - may I say it that way? I really appreciate the huge efforts from both sides for making the banking system and the Eurozone stronger. In Bulgaria we always say “Better late than never” … so this time I really appreciate the efforts made especially by the French side. From my point of view, Bruno le Maire is the new main driver of the reforms in the Eurozone.

Journalist: What do you think about the Eurozone budget – should this be part of the EU budget of should it be outside?

Vladislav Goranov: So there are divergent positions among the different member states. In my point of view, if we managed to focus these instruments on the real problems in the Eurozone it could be useful. Otherwise we have to deepen the discussion towards what is the main purpose of the different or separate Eurozone budget.
